The Lost Cucumber

" Wow, Dad can you believe the size of this cucumber!" Danny nearly screamed as they walked through the family garden. They had been gone on vacation for over three weeks, and now the garden was somewhat overgrown. Since no one had been tending to it, many of the vegetables that should have been picked, remained in the vine. One such vegetable was this large cucumber. It was then largest cucumber Danny had ever seen; but when he looked closer, he found that it was more golden than green, and it had rotten spots on the bottom where it lay touching the earth.
" Dad, we can't use this: its not fit to eat. We needed to be here at least a week ago!"
Danny's father smiled at his son's exaggerated reaction and then remarked, " Yep,you're right. It is neat to see a cucumber this big, but we cannot use it for anything. We weren't here top watch for this cucumber, and now it's too late to pick it and to enjoy it."

Like the lost cucumber, life is often filled with "missed opportunities." The harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God requires we be watching and ready. Seeds sometimes bear fruit when we least expect it. We may fail to see opportunities because our attention in on things other than him. Those opportunities become " could have," " should have, " or " would have" regrets in our lives.
"FOUR THINGS COME NOT BACK- THE SPOKEN WORD,
THE SPED ARROW. THE PASTLIFE
AND
THE NEGLECTED OPPORTUNITY"
